Thai Environment
Angelica archangelica is a biennial plant from the Apiaceae family, a subspecies of which is cultivated for its sweetly scented edible stems and roots. Like several other species in Apiaceae, its appearance is similar to several poisonous species (Conium, Heracleum, and others), and should not be consumed unless it has been identified with absolute certainty.
During its first year it only grows leaves, but during its second year its fluted stem can reach a height of two meters (or six feet). The edges of the leaflets are finely toothed or serrated. Angelica only grows in damp soil, preferably near rivers or deposits of water.
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand. It is in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. This mountain is an ultra prominent peak. Today, the summit of Doi Inthanon is a popular tourist destination for both foreign and Thai tourists, with a peak of 12,000+ visitors visiting the summit on New Year's Day.
The Chi River is the longest river flowing within Thailand. It is 765 kilometres (475 mi) long but carries less water than the second longest river, the Mun.
